Millions of Americans, including many thousands in Sammamish, Washington, suffer from allergies to various items. From foods to pollens and dander, there are often common triggers that initiate an allergic reaction in people, and understanding what these triggers are and how to avoid them will greatly help individuals to maintain control over their allergic reactions.

A living room can be kept clean and tidy with a simple fifteen minute cleaning session if the homeowner knows how to do it correctly. First, before touching any part of the living room or dusting any part of the living room furniture, a person who is undertaking to clean their living room fast and effectively should get their needed cleaning supplies ready for action.

In fact, up to thirty percent of individuals who suffer from asthma are also allergic to dogs, cats, and other household animals and pets. A person who knows they are asthmatic or who can tell that they suffer from an allergic reaction due to their pets will want to take the necessary precautions against incurring allergic responses from interacting with their pets.

It is also advisable to avoid using alkaline products on linoleum as they can discolor it. Alkaline products leave behind a yellowish tint in some cases. Another thing that you will want to make sure you do, is test the product, even if you think it will be safe to use in a small area of the floor that is out of the way and unnoticeable. This way, you will be able to see if it causes damage before your cover your entire floor with it.

After compiling the needed supplies, a person who wants to clean their living room fast and effective should start by attacking the clutter. Living rooms are notorious for gathering random items from across the home which have been left there by this person or that family member.

In addition to helping clean up animal dander, having the carpet of the home cleaned regularly will help an individual avoid another common asthma inducer-dust mites. Dust mites can be found throughout the home and especially in the bedding of the bedroom.

A person can avoid this allergic trigger of dust mites by vacuuming the home regularly with a vacuum that is equipped with a HEPA filter (which traps small particles that other forms of vacuum filters allow to recirculate) and by washing the bedding and sheets as often as possible with hot water. There are also allergen-resistant sheets and bedding that can be purchased that will help keep a bed clean from dust mites and other allergens.

The vacuuming and the dusting will both only take a few minutes, which will leave plenty of time to give the couch and other furniture a solid once over. First, remove the cushions and give them a brushing, using the spot cleaner as needed (and if recommended by the manufacture) to scrub out stains on the cushions.

Keeping the humidity of the home to under fifty percent can be accomplished if the homeowner will make sure that the home is well ventilated and that any leaky faucets are promptly fixed. Ventilation is especially important in the bathroom as a hot shower or bath will often make the climate in the bathroom perfect for mold growth.

Carpets are also tricky to know how to clean properly. With carpets it is very important to vacuum regularly so that the dirt does not get stuck in the carpet. At the very least you should vacuum at least once a week, but areas where people walk through more often may need to be vacuumed more often. There are also various cleaners that you can use to remove stains, but you will want to check it in a small area before you apply it in the center of the room so that it does not discolor your carpet.
